-Age limits for blood donation is 17 to 70 years old

Accept up to 60 years old for first time donor.

-For donors above 60 years old. May accept regular donor up to 70 years old with annual medical check-up which includes chest X-ray, ECG, LFT, Renal Profile, Fasting Blood Sugar and Full Blood Profile or letter from physician stating that donor is fit to donate.

-For donors aged 17 years old, written parental/guardian’s consent is compulsory.

-Defer permanently for HIV patient

-May donate if living with person with HIV:

-Sexual contact: Defer permanently current and former sexual partners

-Defer for 2 weeks after last dose

-Defer for 6 months after full recovery

-Defer for 3 months following minor surgery.

-Defer for 6 months following major surgery.

-Defer permanently following neurosurgical procedure, dura mater graft or corneal transplant.
